Renaissance Faire Approacheth

BY RENE THOMPSON The fourth annual Albuquerque Renaissance Faire happens Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.    Presented by the City of Albuquerque and the Society for Creative Anachronism – Barony of al-Barran, the faire will take place — rain or shine — at the Albuquerque International Balloon Museum (9201 Balloon Museum NE). The Equestrian Showcases bring vaulters from near and far to compete on horseback at 11 a.m., 2 and 5 p.m. Other activities include a group wedding, a faire ware show and a pet fashion contest, as well uncommon vendors, music and food. Falcon Meadery, Santa Fe Brewing, Boxing Bear Brewery, Distillery 365, St. Clair Winery, and Bosque Brewing will be featured at The Tavern. General admission for adults is $10, kids ages 4 and up get in for $5, and it's free for children age 3 or younger. Event coordinators explicitly state that no “live steel” or steel weaponry of any kind will not be permitted. Outside food or drinks are not allowed. New at this year’s event, RV enthusiasts can spend the night under the stars at the Balloon Fiesta grounds on Friday, April 29, and Saturday, April 30. For more info about the faire, tickets or reservations, visit cabq.gov.
