Safelite to occupy Rio Rancho that Building Sprint Vacated in January

Nine hundred new jobs are coming to Rio Rancho, Gov. Susana Martinez and local leaders announced. Safelite AutoGlass, the world’s largest vehicle glass repair and replacement company, will move into the building formerly occupied by a Spring call center at 4300 Spring Blvd. Nine hunderd new insurance claims processing and support employees will populate the building over the next four years, officials said at a June 30 news conference. “When job creators come to New Mexico, they see the differences we’ve made over the last six years,” said Martinez said. The announcement is the largest single job creation in New Mexico since 2009, when Martinez took office, her office said. Rio Rancho leaders hope the influx of jobs will replace continuing cuts in Intel's Rio Rancho  chip plant. More than 1,000 jobs have been added in the Rio Rancho area in June alone, the governor's office said Annemarie Garcia, a spokesman for Rio Rancho Mayor Greg Hull, in answer to a question from ABQ Free Press, said it's possible the name of the street of the Safelite operation could be changed from Sprint to Safelite. "We'd be looking at something like that," which would be presented to to the Rio Rancho City Council, she said.  Spring announced in January it was closing its Rio Rancho call center and cutting 394 jobs. Safelite is the world’s largest auto glass repair and replacement company that employs 13,000 people nationwide, serving more than 5.4 million customers a year. Their services are available to 97 percent of drivers throughout the nation.
