As for its environs, The Yards is slated for renovation into work spaces, restaurants and venues. Starting Sunday, May 1, The Market pops up Downtown every Sunday until the end of October. More diverse than your average grower’s market, this one brings together artists, healers, musicians, food vendors and farm-fresh produce Downtown. It’s a cool family outing with educational zones for children and adults and plenty of live music. Making sure everyone in the Barelas, Downtown and adjacent neighborhoods has convenient weekly access to fresh produce is an important community health goal, and farm vendors now accept EBT.
