Early Voting and Registration

BY RENE THOMPSON For those that are not registered voters yet, the last day people can register is on May 10. All registration paperwork must be turned in by 5 p.m. Registering has been made easier than ever online, and people don’t even have to leave the comfort of their couch. To register online, go to the Secretary of State website. Early voting will commence on May 10 at the Clerk's Annex located at 1500 Lomas Blvd. The rest of the locations will start on May 21 and will run until June 4. People can take advantage of early voting at 19 locations throughout Albuquerque from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, according to bernco.gov. On primary election day, June 7, berco.gov assures voters there will be more than 69 locations throughout the city open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. For a list of candidates by district, go to the candidate portal here. As of March 31, a total of 427,037 voters have registered, according to the Secretary of State website. Democrats top out at 46 percent, while Republicans are at 30 percent and independents are at 20 percent. A total of 1.2 million voters are registered within the state of New Mexico.
